1. Agreement to terms
By accessing lilfren.app or downloading and using the Lil Fren desktop application ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree, please do not use our website or App.
These terms apply to both the website and the App. References to "Lil Fren", "we", "us", or "our" refer to the creators and operators of lilfren.app.
2. The App
Lil Fren is a desktop companion application that places virtual pet characters on your screen. The App is intended for personal, non-commercial entertainment use only.
What the App does
- Displays animated companion characters on your desktop
- Sends OS-level notifications to remind you to interact with your companion
- Stores pet state (hunger, mood, etc.) locally on your device
System requirements
The App is designed to run on Windows, macOS, and Linux. We make no guarantee that the App will be compatible with every hardware configuration or operating system version.
Updates
We may release updates that add features, fix bugs, or introduce new companions. Updates delivered through Steam may be installed automatically. We reserve the right to modify or discontinue features at any time.
3. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
- Modify, copy, or create derivative works of the App or its assets
- Use the App for any commercial purpose without written permission
- Attempt to extract, copy, or redistribute any artwork, animations, or character designs
- Use the website to submit false, misleading, or abusive content
- Attempt to overload, attack, or interfere with our servers or infrastructure
4. Intellectual property
All content on lilfren.app and within the App — including but not limited to character designs, artwork, animations, logos, names, and code — is the exclusive property of Lil Fren and is protected by copyright and intellectual property law.
You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the App for personal entertainment purposes only. This licence does not grant you any ownership rights.
The Lil Fren name, logo, and all character designs (including the cat and dog companions) are proprietary. You may not use them in any other context without our explicit written consent.
5. Steam and third-party platforms
The App is distributed through Steam (Valve Corporation). Your purchase and use through Steam is also subject to Steam's own Subscriber Agreement and terms of service. We are not responsible for Steam's platform, pricing policies, or refund decisions.
Steam's refund policy applies to purchases made through their platform. For questions about refunds, contact Steam Support directly.
6. Email notifications and launch list
By submitting your email address on lilfren.app, you consent to receiving a launch notification email when the App becomes available. You may request removal from this list at any time by emailing hello@lilfren.app.
We will not use your email address for unrelated marketing purposes. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
7. Disclaimer of warranties
The App and website are provided "as is" and "as available" without any warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not warrant that:
- The App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses
- The App will be compatible with your system at all times
- Any defects will be corrected within a specific time frame
Use of the App is at your own risk. You are responsible for ensuring that the App is appropriate for use on your computer.
8. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Lil Fren shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including but not limited to loss of data, loss of profits, or damage to your computer system — arising from your use of the App or website.
Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these terms or your use of the App shall not exceed the amount you paid for the App.
9. Changes to these terms
We reserve the right to update these Terms and Conditions at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the website or App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms.
For material changes, we will make reasonable efforts to notify users via the website or by email.
10. Governing law
These Terms and Conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law. Any disputes arising under these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in the territory where Lil Fren is registered.
